Protests Break out Across Ninety Cities as Thousands March in Anger

Demonstrators angered by at the grand jury decision in the Darren Wilson case took to the streets in 90 cities from coast to coast Monday night, snarling traffic, chanting slogans condemning police and waving signs in support of slain black teen Michael Brown.

In New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Boston and Chicago, thousands of people led marches screaming, ‘Hands up! Don’t shoot!’ that has become a rallying cry in protests over police killings across the country.

The protests around the country were largely peaceful, but several demonstrations were marred by foul-mouthed verbal attacks on police and arrests.

Several hundred Americans took to streets on Wednesday in nearly 60 cities across the United States protesting against police brutality.

The protests were held as part of the event dubbed “National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality” which was organized by the Stop Mass Incarceration Network.

In New York, the rally began at Union Square around 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and marked the death of Eric Garner who was strangled to death by a New York Police Department officer.

Garner was accused of illegally selling cigarettes and died on July 17. His encounter with the police was also caught on tape.

New York protesters were carrying signs showing drawings of victims and branding the NYPD’s behavior unlawful.

Also, demonstrators staged a die-in in Oakland, California and called for reform and justice for those who were brutally killed by police.

Hundreds Gather against Militarism, at the NATO’ Summit*

Some 400 people have joined a protest camp in Newport to protest against NATO. The march comes ahead of next week’s military summit that will see 60 world leaders descend on the area and is already causing considerable disruption to locals.

Nuclear NATO – no, thanks!” or “Iraq, Ukraine – no more wars” read the numerous placards as about 400 protesters took in a march on Saturday against the upcoming NATO summit.

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament said that they expect Saturday’s march to be a “major demonstration” and local officials have said a number of roads will be affected by the march, which began at 2 pm local time.
