Save HarsH ReaLiTy!!

It’s sad that it’s possible to get suspended for being too nice — because God forbid all that reaching-out and offering advice could be stalking or something..
It’s not the first time I’ve read about bloggers whom I’ve followed have various serious problems with their WP blog. I hope OM can come back sooner than later..
Cheers! 🙂

No one likes spam. In internet terms (as opposed to the stuff you find on the grocery store shelf) it’s the bane of our existence. Its sole purpose is to get our attention and once it does, it either begs us to buy something or gives us something we would never pay for – something like a virus.

Then there is the exception to the rule. In fact, there is only one exception that I’ve found in over a decade of browsing the web. It may have seemed like a “spam follow” at the start, but when I followed the cookie-crumb trail that led me back to its source, it ended up benefiting me beyond my wildest dreams: it was HarsH ReaLiTy.

Jason, also known as Opinionated Man, has a huge (over 50,000 blog, twitter, and Facebook combined) following on his blog, HarsH ReaLiTy. His passion for connecting with other…

  1. Isn’t this appalling? Sheesh. I like OM, so hopefully this will all comes out in the wash eventually. It’s still really maddening when people try to mess with a good thing because they haven’t got anything better to do or something.

I admit, I had never heard of this guy. What sort of stuff did he write about? And is it really true that his blog was shut down because he had too many followers? (how could that actually be proven anyway, or is that just what common sense tells us..?)

    • OM blogged mostly about random stuff regarding his family, as well as writing some poetry. Every now and then he’d make an opinion post, mainly on feminism and politics. Sometimes he’d also allow guests to post on his blog, and he’d regularly reblog posts from mostly up-starting bloggers he’d found.
He was shut down apparently because he was ‘liking’ and ‘following’ too much per hour for WP’s liking. It wasn’t because he had too many followers.
And I suspect it’s actually quite easy to tell this, from WP’s end — how do you think they were able to send out those New Year’s stats emails (assuming you got one of those..)?
What I wonder is how too much ‘liking’ and ‘following’ can be seen as one of those bs bloggers who fill your spam folder with all the ways in which one can make $10,000-something/month doing nothing — when I’ve never, so far, been ‘liked’ or ‘followed’ by any such blogger.
      It’s all weird to me..
      Cheers! 🙂
