Lately, we hear a lot about Orwell?s ?1984? and Rand?s ?Atlas Shrugged? but perhaps the bestcrystal ballto our current state of affairsis Plato?s Republic.   1. In his 2012 book Debt: the First 5,000 Years, anthropologist David Graeber provides some reasons why this might be. Apparently urbanization causes very specific economic and ecological problems related to credit/debt mechanisms.
